Obverse

Jesus Christ, seated on a throne with a high rectangular backrest, with long hair and beard. The shoulders of the throne are decorated with pearls. Around the head of Christ is a nimbus containing a cross. He is dressed in a chiton and sindon. With His right hand He blesses raised to the side, and in His left hand He holds a Gospel, decorated with five pearls, resting on His left knee. In the field on both sides of the head are the initials ІС - ХС.

Reverse

Tsar Ivan Alexander, facing, full-length. The ruler wears a stemma with pendilia, with beard and mustache. He is dressed in a divitision decorated with vegetal ornament and pearls, maniakion and chlamys. A loros is draped over his left arm. In it He holds a globus cruciger, and in His right hand a sceptre with a cross. In the field to the left are the monogram АЛЕ (Alexander), and the monogram Б, consisting of the letters БЛ (bulgarom). To the right respectively the monogram of the title царъ - ЦР, and ГР/М (grkom). The inscription begins and ends with a six-pointed star each.
