Obverse

Large even cross with arc-shaped expansions at the ends of the arms, ending with beads. At the bottom, the cross is additionally decorated with symmetrically arranged acanthus leaves. No inscription.

Reverse

Tsar Ioan Asen, standing, full-length, with stemma with pendilia. He is dressed in divitision and maniakion. Across his chest is draped a loros, whose end hangs over His left hand. In His right hand He holds a sceptre with a cross with a short handle, and in His left - anexikakia. To the left of the figure is the monogram IW, and to the right the abbreviation of the title царѫ.
