Obverse

Jesus Christ, seated on a throne with a rectangular himation. Around His head is a nimbus containing a cross. He is dressed in a chiton and sindon. In His left hand He holds a Gospel resting on His knees. In the field on both sides of the head are the initials ІС - ХС.

Reverse

The tsar in three-quarter stature, with a stemma with long pendilia. The ruler is beardless and mustacheless (?). He is dressed in a sakkos, and the end of the loros is draped over his left arm. In his right hand he holds a sceptre topped with a cross. Circular legend: IW ALEZ.
