Obverse

Jesus Christ, seated on a throne with a high rectangular backrest, with long hair and beard. Around His head is a nimbus with a cross inscribed. Christ is dressed in a chiton and sindon. In His left hand He holds a Gospel, and with His right hand He blesses in front of His chest. In the field on both sides of the head are the initials ІС - ХС. In the bend of the right elbow is an officium mark - a single dot.

Reverse

Empress Irene, on the left, and Emperor Michael, standing, full-length, with stemmata with pendilia, hold between them a banner with a long staff, upon which a cross is depicted. At the upper end, to the left of the banner staff, vertically is inscribed ЧР (empress), and to the right - Ч (emperor). Emperor Michael has a beard and mustache. Both figures wear sakkos and mantles. Their free hands are placed in front of their chests in a gesture of humility. Circular inscription in two parts: ЄΡΙΝΑ - МΙХАИЛ.
