Obverse

Large monogram of the family name Shishman - Ч, composed of the letters Ш and А. Some authors see in this stylized image the fortress gate of the city of Tarnovo. In the variant with a flat flan, on both sides of the monogram there is a six-pointed star.

Reverse

Tsar Michael Shishman on a horse walking to the right, with a stemma with pendilia. The Tsar has a beard and mustache. He is dressed in a sakkos and maniakion, richly decorated with large pearls. The ends of the loros are draped over his knees. In His right hand He holds a sceptre topped with a cross, and in His left hand the reins of the horse. On both sides of the figure there is an inscription: on the left МХ, and on the right the abbreviation of the title царъ - Ч.
