Biography
Brother of tsar Smilets. Together with Smilets and Voysil he held an independent domain in the Sredna Gora centred on the fortress of Kopsis. On his brother's accession he was proclaimed sebastokrator — the highest rank below the tsar. After 1300 he fled to Byzantium, where Andronikos II again proclaimed him sebastokrator. In 1302 he marched from Thessalonica against the despotate of Kran, but despot Aldemir defeated, captured and blinded him.
