Shishman dynasty

Louis

A Bulgarian royal son known from a Neapolitan document that calls him a nephew of the king of Naples. Bozhilov takes him to be an otherwise unattested son of tsar Michael III Shishman Asen.

Biography

Ludovik bore a name unusual for the Bulgarian royal house and is known from a Neapolitan document that calls him a nephew of the king of Naples.

Ivan Bozhilov takes him to be an otherwise unknown son of Tsar Michael III Shishman Asen — probably from his marriage to Anna-Neda. His very Western name reflects the wide dynastic ties the house maintained with the courts of Europe in the first half of the fourteenth century.
