Obverse

Bust of St. Demetrius with a nimbus. The saint is dressed in a tunic and armor. In His right hand He holds a cross, and on His left shoulder there is a shield. Legend in both fields: С Т Н - Д Н М. Variants also occur.

Reverse

The ruler, standing, bareheaded. The despot has a rounded beard and no mustache. He is dressed in sakkos and maniakion. In His right hand He holds a sword resting on the shoulder, and in the left - a shield with a cross. On both sides of the figure there is a circular legend: С В Т (Д) - Є С. Variants also occur.
