Biography
Andrey Asen was a son of the eparch Isaac Asen and Anna [Goudeles] Asenina Palaiologina, and thus, on his mother's side, a grandson of Emperor Manuel II Palaiologos. He bore the name of his great-grandfather Andrey Asen. He was born probably around 1365–1370.
Emperor Manuel II dedicated to him the treatise "On Dreams." From some years before 1405 until 1409 Andrey was governor (kephale) of the island of Lemnos; in 1409 he took part in the synod that condemned Patriarch Matthew. He died around 1416.
