Obverse
Jesus Christ, seated on a throne without a backrest, with a nimbus around His head, in which a cross is inscribed. Each arm of the cross is decorated with a pearl. Christ is dressed in a chiton and sindon. In His left hand He holds a Gospel, and with His right hand He blesses in front of His chest. In the field on both sides are the initials ІС - ХС. Below them two multi-rayed stars. The image is enclosed in a beaded circle.
Reverse
The Emperor, standing, facing left, crowned by the Theotokos. In His right hand He holds a labarum, and in His left a globus cruciger. The figures are most often three-quarter length. Circular inscription, often with errors and omissions: MAN8НА ДЕСПН and МР - ΘV. The current type reproduces the fourth billon coinage of the Byzantine Emperor Manuel I Komnenos.
