Biography
Yaroslav Asen Palaiologos was a son of Michael Asen and a grandson of Tsar Ivan Asen III (John III Asen), a brother of Avraam. The Slavic name, unusual for the family, probably reflects his father's sojourn in Serbia.
Together with his brother Avraam he is mentioned in marginal notes to the so-called Saray Codex of the Octateuch. Beyond this the sources preserve no detail of the lives of the two brothers from the Serbo-Byzantine periphery of the family.
