Biography

Constantine Palaiologos Asen was a son of Tsar Ivan Asen III (John III Asen) and Irene Palaiologina and bore the high court rank of sevastokrator. Together with his brothers he was among the prominent members of the Byzantine branch of the family.

In 1324 he is attested as a witness to the treaty with Venice. In the civil war between the two emperors Andronikos II and Andronikos III he held military positions in Thrace, where he suffered a defeat at the hands of Theodore Synadenos. His son was Michael (Komnenos Tornikes) Asen.
