Biography
Irene Asenina was a daughter of Alexander Asen of the third generation of the Byzantine Asens. She married the Venetian Paolo de Bernardo, a citizen of Venice.
From this mixed marriage came her son Marco de Bernardo Asen — one of the gasmouloi (descendants of mixed Italian-Greek marriages) of the late Byzantine world. In 1395 Irene issued a power of attorney connected with her son's affairs.
