Radomir Psalter
13th c.
A psalter signed by the scribe Radomir, a witness to thirteenth-century Bulgarian book hands.
Why it matters
One of the most important Bulgarian books of the thirteenth century, and one of the group that ties the period's book production to Zograf on Mount Athos. Together with the Dragan Menaion it shows the Bulgarian monastery on the Holy Mountain working as a scriptorium and not merely as a house of prayer — a century before the Tarnovo school of Patriarch Euthymius.
