Smilets
Theodora„wife of Stefan Uros III Decanski”
Daughter of tsar Smilets. In 1298 she was married to the Serbian heir Stefan Uros III Decanski, newly returned from Tatar hostageship — her father's most independent act of foreign policy. A late Serbian chronicle claims the marriage sealed a reconciliation after a war in which king Milutin defeated Smilets, but the account is late and uncorroborated. Bozhilov dates the marriage to c. 1309-1310; the 1298 dating of the History of Bulgaria 7th-14th c. is followed here.
