Shishman dynasty
Shishman
Son of Michael Asen and a nephew of tsar Ivan Alexander. Attested around 1356–1357 as an administrative officer in the region of Yambol.
Biography
Shishman was a son of Michael Asen (a brother of Tsar Ivan Alexander) and thus a nephew of the tsar; he bore the name of his maternal grandfather — the Vidin despot Shishman.
He is mentioned around 1356–1357 as an administrative figure in the region of Yambol — one of the few records of the secondary, non-ruling members of the ramified royal house in the fourteenth century.
