Biography

Michael Asen is attested around 1335–1336 in connection with the trial against the metropolitan of Philippi, in the course of which the sons of Andronikos Asen were also condemned; two witnesses cited his words.

He can hardly be identified with any other known bearer of this name in the family, and so his exact place in the pedigree of the Asens remains undetermined.
