Biography
Elena Asenina was the younger daughter of the eminent Byzantine general Andronikos Asen and a sister of Empress Irene Asenina Kantakouzene and of the despots John and Manuel Asen.
The sources mention her chiefly as a member of this influential family, linked through her sister Irene to the imperial house of the Kantakouzenoi; details of her own life have not survived.
