Anna Asenina Kondostephanina
An Asenina by birth, in all likelihood a daughter of Despot Manuel Asen (not with full certainty). Wife of the grand primikerios John Kondostephanos, founder of the Athonite monastery of Pantokrator.
Biography
Anna Asenina belonged by birth to the great family of the Asens — in all likelihood a daughter of Despot Manuel Asen, although the sources do not allow this to be established with certainty. She was born around 1335–1340.
Between March and July 1357 she married the protosebastos, and later grand primikerios, John Kondostephanos — a descendant of the Kondostephanos family famous in the twelfth century and founder (together with his brother Alexios) of the Athonite monastery of Pantokrator. Together with her husband, Anna was a benefactor of the Athonite monasteries of Pantokrator and Vatopedi. She is mentioned for the last time in August 1374; she died before 1384.
